MGM Grand Wins Best Luxury Hotel
Award
MGM Grand Darwin has won one of the most prestigious
tourism awards in the Northern Territory, a Brolga Award for Best
Luxury Accommodation. This category was open to five star luxury
hotels or resorts in the Northern Territory, with a focus on both
the facilities and services that enhance the tourism experience.
The awards night was held on Saturday, 29 November at the Gagadju
Crocodile Hotel in Kakadu National Park with approximately 250 -
300 Northern Territory people in attendance.
MGM Grand Darwin launched 10 new luxury five
star rooms in May 2003 as part of its $10 million program of upgrade
and refurbishment. The five-star Superior Rooms have set a new benchmark
for hotels in Darwin and feature private balconies, marble bathrooms
with separate spa baths and full-length windows overlooking the
new tropical landscaping and beachside gardens. They also incorporate
a dedicated line for data with high speed ADSL (broad band) connection
for multimedia services such as internet access and video conferencing.
One of the rooms is a luxury ultra suite with
interconnecting capabilities, a bar, guest facilities and a special
balcony.
General Manager, Andrew Wilson, said the custom-built
rooms were spacious and featured the highest-quality finishes. "We're
thrilled with the result", Mr Wilson said. "The five-star luxury
appeals to international and domestic business travellers, as well
as leisure travellers and locals who want to spoil themselves."
The addition of the Superior Rooms brings the total number of rooms
at MGM Grand Darwin to 107.
